Popclip for mac8/25/2023 ![]() I give PopClip a 5 out 5 Bob Weiner rating. The bevy of useful extensions are an added bonus. It simply does what it says it does, and does it well. ![]() I can’t really find anything wrong with PopClip. Aesthetically, the app has polish – it looks great, just like every Mac app should. PopClip is stable and fast, and the price is very reasonable for what you get. I’ve been using PopClip for about two months now, on the recommendation from my Apple Artist podcast co-host, George Coghill. Thankfully, you can add an exclusions list. You may not want contextual actions appearing in all your apps. Once it’s downloaded, double-click it and the new extension will appear within PopClip’s Extensions tab. Visit the PopClip website, download the extension you want. I have PopClip set to start at login and appear in the menu bar.Īdding extensions is very simple. You can configure the size of the contextual actions menu and your preferred spelling language. Suggested Spelling: replaces the current word with the suggested spelling.Use e-mail address: composes a new email to the selected e-mail address.The other PopClip actions I use regularly include: One extension that I find imminently useful is the “Paste and Match Style” Action, particularly when I’m working with Pages. But PopClip packs much more power under its hood, thanks to a slew of downloadable extensions that let you add to PopClip’s core install. If mimicking Apple’s iOS contextual actions was all that PopClip did, it would easily be worth its $5 asking price. Simply put, PopClip puts context-aware actions like Search, Cut, Copy, Paste, Bold, Italic, and Underline within immediate reach, whenever text is selected – very similar to the basic contextual actions found within iOS. I have PopClip installed on both my Macs. Purchase: Buy License Key or Buy from Mac App Store. Universal for Apple Silicon and Intel needs macOS 10.13.6 and above. Instantly copy & paste, and access actions like search, spelling, dictionary and many, many more. In a nutshell: once PopClip is installed, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. PopClip appears when you select text with your mouse on your Mac. And that worries me, because the makers of this app, PilotMoon, deserve a lot of credit for what they’ve built. Select a misspelled word, and PopClip offers corrections. If you select text containing a URL, email address or file path, PopClip can open it. Instantly access context-specific actions including copy and paste, plus extensions like Send to Evernote. Thank you for your ongoing enthusiasm and feedback.PopClip ($4.99 at the Mac App Store) is so incredibly useful and slick that I’m fairly certain Apple will steal it for its next impending OS X release. Send a snippet to a translation website, or add a task to your favourite to-do app. You can transform the text from lowercase to capitals, or sort the selected lines alphabetically. Select a URL, and PopClip lets you open it, or shorten it, or add it to your reading list. The basic actions include copy and paste, dictionary lookup, and web search. PopClip pops up when you select text with your mouse, giving you a customizable row of helpful action buttons.
